Amphetamine withdrawal timelines are different for everyone and depend on everything from your personal health to how much amphetamines you have been taking. However, to help you prepare for what is ahead, here is a general drug detox timeline for amphetamines:
First 24-48 hours
Amphetamine withdrawal symptoms start fast, often within hours of your last dose. Expect to feel exhausted, moody and hungry, with the first signs of amphetamine cravings beginning to emerge.
Days 2-5
The second to fifth days are typically the hardest. Intense fatigue, anxiety and depression can hit hard, and you will likely experience strong cravings and insomnia, too.
Days 5-7
After about a week, most of the physical amphetamine withdrawal symptoms start to ease up. You may still feel emotionally drained or tired but sleep should come more easily as your body begins to stabilise.
Weeks 2-4
Psychological symptoms like depression and cravings can linger, but physically, you should feel more energetic and much more in control.
1 Month and beyond
Lingering emotional symptoms might last for a couple of months for a small number of people. However, with ongoing treatment and support, these will become more manageable and eventually disappear.
