Admission to Recovery Lighthouse

Initial booking

On your admission to the Recovery Lighthouse, you will receive a warm and friendly welcome. While most admissions will need to be pre-booked, on some occasions, we can accommodate a new admission within 24 hours of making the booking.

Referrals can be accepted from the client themselves, family, friends, and health professionals. Once the booking is confirmed, we will ensure that our team is ready to greet you.

On arrival

On arriving at our clinic you will be welcomed by our Clinic Manager, who will complete administrative formalities and ensure that you and anyone that arrives with you fully understand all aspects of the treatment we will provide for you. You will be introduced to the clinical team and shown around so that you can familiarise yourself with the layout of the facility. You will be provided with a welcome pack that will explain all you need to know about your stay with us at the Recovery Lighthouse, along with a timetable of therapy sessions.

Health screening

During your first 24 hours with us, we will arrange for you to see our specialist doctor and a full assessment will be carried out of any medical needs you may have. If required, a full detox programme will be prescribed. The detox will then be administered and monitored under strict protocol by our team of professionals.

Please remember that you will need to bring an ample supply of any medications that you may have been taking, as well as details of your doctor’s surgery. The doctors will make recommendations and highlight any areas of your treatment that require specialist attention.

It is important to us that all of your treatment needs are met during your stay, therefore we will ensure that anything highlighted or recommended is then incorporated into your bespoke treatment plan. Your treatment plan will then be continually reviewed by our counsellors, clinical director and medical team, ensuring that you are receiving the best care possible at all times.

Once your assessment has been completed, our team of staff members will then help you settle in. We fully understand that this is a very fearful and stressful time for most, but our staff are on hand to offer reassurance and advice at all times.

What to bring

Many of our clients come to us in a time of crisis, and we understand that the last thing you want is to be worrying about if you have packed the right things. Below is a suggested list of items you may want to pack, as well as a list of things that will not be permitted.

Please bring with you…

Toiletries – Items such as shampoo, shower gel, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant (non-aerosol), mouthwash (non-alcohol), flannel, hairdryer
Gym wear and trainers – For example comfortable jogging bottoms, leggings, t-shirts, and vests
Nightwear – Slippers, pyjamas and dressing gown
Comfortable loose clothing for day and evening Items – such as jeans, loose trousers, t-shirts, jumpers, etc
Outdoor wear – Coat and footwear appropriate for the time of year
Medication – Please bring all medication with you that you are taking as well as your doctor’s surgery contact details
Mobile phones – After an initial period of going without your phone, you will be allowed your mobile for limited periods daily. Contact with the outside world is limited during the first week; this is to ensure you stay focused on your recovery. Urgent calls will be allowed to be made whilst supervised during this time
Personal sundries – Such as stamps, cash, debit/credit card, chequebook, stationery, cigarettes and tobacco. Please bring with you any important paperwork that will need to be dealt with during your stay. Jewellery is permitted but we encourage you to only bring what you wear on a daily basis to reduce the risk of valuable items being lost
Pictures – Pictures of loved ones are permitted, providing their content is suitable

Please note that there will be laundry facilities to wash and dry your clothing

Items not permitted…

Illicit drugs or alcohol
Mouthwash containing alcohol
Aerosols and perfumes
Medication that is not clearly prescribed in the appropriately labelled containers
Sharp objects such as scissors, knives, needles, and razor blades
Anything that can be used as, or presents as, a weapon
*Books, magazines, newspapers and other reading material.

We understand, for many, reading is one of life’s joys. However, we discourage clients from bringing their own reading materials. We want all clients to get as much out of their Recovery Lighthouse experience by focusing all their energy on recovery. We have an array of recovery-oriented reading resources that clients are encouraged to use during their time with us, and also to continue reading on discharge, as well as workshops, therapy and holistic classes throughout your stay.
